Ex. 2 :

a) (a+b)(a-b) = a²-b² donc :
    (3x+1)(3x-1) = (3x)² - 1² = 9x² - 1

b) 4(1/2 y -1) = 4/2 y - 4 = 2y - 4

Ex. 3 :

1) 4(x-5)²-9 = 4(x²-10x+25)-9 = 4x²-40x+100-9 = 4x²-40x+91
    
    (2x-13)(2x-7) = 2x*2x - 2x*7 - 13*2x - 13*(-7)
                          = 4x²     - 14x  -   26x  +    91
                          = 4x² - 40x + 91

2) f(x) = 0
⇒ (2x-13)(2x-7) = 0
⇒ 2x-13=0  ou  2x-7=0
⇒ 2x=13  ou  2x=7
⇒ x=13/2  ou  x=7/2
